top ten photos

this photo links to memories, as the picture in the centre is of my grandparents on their wedding day.

this picture also links to memories, as my mom and I always collect unique glass bottles from places we have been.

this is a close up of a 'Pixies' vinyl, on the record player I bought my mum for Christmas a few years ago, so it's kind of mixing time and memories.

this is a close up of the needle on the record player, this links to memories, because like when you tell a story you are only scratching the surface.

this is a picture of some of the records I own, many are of the same genre, but come from different time periods

this is a close up of my fender guitar, as you can see the strings are very worn, and it's a bit dusty, but that's because I haven't played it since my last gig.

this is another picture of a guitar, but this was my mums, I remember her telling me that she bought it in 1995 for £30 of a friend, because he wanted beer money.

this is a picture of some graffiti that I saw, I think it reflects on memory, as many people have 'tagged' themselves there, and also it relates to time and memories, because it says 'punks not dead'

I saw this building when I went on a walk, and I thought it mixed old with new. the building is obviously very old, but there is new graffiti all over it.

this photo shows time, and the fact that it runs out. this is a picture of a flower arrangement at my granddads funeral. Each white represented a grandchild.

I took this photo in Bath, and it brings back memories with friends.

Debra Hurd Evaluation

Debra Hurd Evaluation

Debra Hurd is a well known artist in America, as she studied at both Southern University in Chattanooga, and Ringling school of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Also, Hurd was a graphic designer in Austin, Texas, and Florida over the course of fifteen years.

Debra Hurd - Biography
Debra playing piano
Hurd talks about Art and Music being her passions, but she is move passionate about art, Debra Hurd is a full trained pianist, as she has been studying music since her early childhood. Debra often plays live shows, and even records some of her lively, bouncy music.

Hurd's taste in music has inspired many different pieces, as she is well known for creating vibrant oil paintings of musicians, and nightlife, and occasionally animals. Hurd likes to use a knife to paint her pictures, as it gives the painting more vibrancy, texture, and colour.

"A very ordinary scene can be perceived differently when painted with a bit of exaggerated colour and awareness of light. The ordinary then becomes the extraordinary. Colour is critical. When I'm asked which colour is my favourite, I tend to think in terms of which two or three colours I like in combination."

Hendrix by Debra Hurd

Hendrix has a mixture of warm and cool tones. Hurd produced this image by using oil paints and a knife as she does with many of her other paintings. In this painting Hendrix is wearing a lime green, jacket which has been shaded using sky blue and olive tones, the cool tones of the jacket contrasts with then skin which is made up of orange, browns, yellows, whites and a small amount of a plum colour. Debra Hurd has also used yellow and white to capture any metallic features . Hendrix is the focal point of this picture, as there is no specific background its only a dark purple colour.

Hendrix by Debra Hurd

I studied Debra Hurd because her work really inspired me, I loved the fact that she used so many different colours, and yet still managed to capture true to life pictures. I also liked that she was able to use this style to capture many different things, ranging from people to instruments to landscapes.
